Ride - 22/05/13

Well what a great ride that was. 8 of us set out from Nirvana (Myself, Simon, Paul, Antony, Nick, MattR, Mark & Duncan) and headed off to explore some new to us trails over Leith Hill way.

A quick run around the back of Westcott towards Dorking then up through the Bury Hill Fisheries and Chadhurst Farm to Logmore Lane. From here we made our way over to the 'new' trails. These all have at least one or two fairly difficult features and none of our group did very well on 'the gully'.

Every trail we went down ended in us having to climb back up, I think there were at least 7 seperate descents including the more familiar ones. I think everyone enjoyed the challanges and of course riding new stuff is always a pleasure.

With the Stephan Langton being our nominated watering hole for the evening eventually the time came to head that way. Antony and MattR decided to skip the beers and they headed for home down Summer Lighning; Paul who was on his first proper ride for a year had already gone ahead to the pub leaving just 5 of us left.

We took in the Summer Lighning Downhill for a change then made our way to Broadmoor. From here it was up between the houses then on to do an old favorite that to us has always been known as 'Wildwood'. This was a right blast as ever and brought us out right by the Friday Street Pond.

At the pub we found Paul waiting along with Joe and 2 of his friends. As we settled into our lovely and very well earn't beers the late starters turned up (Charlie, Mike & George). They to had done the 'new' trails and Charlie , so we are told, cleaned the lot of them which is really impressive on a 1st visit.

The beers were flowing rather well and I manged to once again exceed the two pints being tempted by Simon to have that extra half - Yummy.

Sadly we eventually had to leave at a rather later than usual 10.20 or so and head  back to Westcott on the usual ish route of over to Broadmoor and down the Rookery.

19 miles covered and over 2,500 feet of climbing - fab.
