Long overdue update
Well I have to say I have been very slack with updating the website this year. What with the forum and now Strava to deal with finding time to write stuff on here is difficult. What I can say is that us ‘Cocks’ have been getting plenty of riding in and have even been seen spreading our wings in places such as Swinley and Badegbury. A trip to the 7 Stanes is planned for early May and I for one can’t wait to get back up to Kirroughtree and Glentress for the 1st time in 3 years I think. A team is already entered in the Gorrick 1212 race that takes place in August – this is under the Team Milo banner and we do hope to put in ‘Dorking Cocks’ team as well. We have riders off to the Trans Alp race this year and even the BC Race in Canada. Hopefully we’ll be back at Dusk to Dawn again too and the Brighton Big Dog, Tread is doing a Lands End to John O’ Groats charity ride too but we’ll be missing out on Mountain Mayhem. And perhaps replacing that with a midsummer all night ride from home. I’m sure there’s more races and events on the cards but I can’t think of them off hand although the Peaslake MTBO may be one of them. As for the here and now, well last Saturday I lead a 40 miler over Leith, Holmbury, Pitch, Winterfold, Blackheath and Newlands Corner which was fun but tiring with a fairly big group of 10 riders and a steady pace. Last Wednesday also saw the usual gathering at Nirvana for the evening ride, I was feeling a little under the weather so along with Matt R took a easy ish ride out over Ranmore, Box Hill, Ranmore again before meeting the others at the designated pub stop of the Kings Head in Holmbury. Surprisingly on arrival only 3 of the 7 that started in that group were there, the others having returned home sodden after being caught in ‘Biblical’ rain – I however, who had started my ride in the other direction was completely dry – amazing how localised the downpours were, apparently Holmbury / Peaslake had rain in bucket full’s. Well, still not feeling great so not sure what riding I’ll be doing this weekend, perhaps a solo ride out to the West and maybe even a jaunt to a local pub tonight, well see
