Its back again and only one month to object. Your help is needed to object to this proposal, if it means being a NIMBY then so be it but this is just plain wrong. Its not the fact that they want to extract oil/gas, I have no problem with that at all. What is wrong is the location of the proposed drill site.
Why choose an area high up on Leith Hill in a location that can be seen for miles around and will be an eye sore in one of the last unspoilt areas in Surrey which can only be accessed by a a very narrow and high banked ancient sunken road completly unsuitable for the 30+ HGV movments a day that are planned - it simply doesn't make sense.
If they can drill in the north sea then I'm sure a site in an area just off the A24 duel carriageway or A29 can be found from which the oil/gas can easily be drilled to and extracted, where its at a low level, could easily be screened by trees and provide direct access to a main road. And before I get accused of just wanting it away from me, in both these cases it would put the site much closer to me but I can see that this would be far better than the proposed site.
