Relaxed Saturday Ride

With most of the Cocks away on the now annual trip to the Black Mountains lead by Huw, George and myself contented ourselves with a relaxed ride around some less popular local biking areas.

George cycled up to my house at Capel then for a change we set off on a 'flat land' ride over to a new cafe I had noticed near Baynards Station on the Downs Link. The route is fairly easy but uses mainly bridleways and the odd road and cheeky trail to get to the destination.

Once there we were a little early and took a ride up the railway to see the now closed Thurlow Arms. On returning to the cafe we noticed the above cyclist who looked like he could do with a bacon roll or two.

I'm please to say that once open, the food and drink was very pleasent and a return to this place will certainly occur.

Once suitably re hydrated and fed we headed back whence we came through Baynards estate then over to Walliswood and Ockley. From here we wound our way back via a few cheeky trails to Beare Green then accross holmwood common to North Holmwood.

George headed off home and I made a return to Capel. Despite the flat routre I admit to finding the going hard in the heat of another glorious day. On reaching home another 37 mile ride had been achieved and although not the best riding, it was very enjoyable with beautiful countyside and made a change from our usual loops.
