Poland

At last I managed to get my first experiance of Mountain Biking in Poland. For the 1st time on a trp with my wife back to her home village I was able to take my bike and have some free time to go exploring.

She comes from a small village in Lubuskie region which in very general terms is about 30 miles over the border from Germany and level with Berlin. Its a beautiful area and although flat (its highest point is about 225 meters) has seemingly endless amounts of forest and plenty of lakes.

I really enjoyed my 2 rides exploring only a tiny amount of the area mainly on the numerous fire tracks. I managed to find 2 decent sections of singletrack but the potential for more is just hugh. Having ridden at Thetford forest last year I can best describe this part of Poland as being similar but with a bit more undulations, lots of lakes with perfect clear water and probably at least 100 times more space.

Roll on the next visit in August for a family wedding, bit of work on our land and hopefully some more biking. Being only a 10 hour drive from Calais, its nearer than people think, very hot in the summer, has loads of land and space and is cheap - lovely place.
