A wet one

Its not often I or we as a group go riding in the rain. I can't say I enjoy it and most times it happens its when it starts to rain having already started the ride.

Last night was a little differant in that between leaving home and starting the ride the rain started coming down. However with 9 of us in the same situation all waiting at Nirvana we decided to press on amyway but change the proposed St Martas route to a more local traverse of Leith Hill and its wonderful singletrack.

Its far to complicated to try and explain the route but lets just say it started by heading up 'Wolvens Lane' via a less well known route that passes 'Wooton Church', made its way up to Coldharbour Cricket pitch, wound round the hill a bit then carried on all the way down to Friday Street incorporating sections of 'Caspers' and the whole of 'Wildwood'.

At Friday Street we managed to resist the temptation of a beer at the Stephen Langton but instead climbed all the way back up to Leith Hill Tower before again desending back to Westcott via 'Summer Lightning'  and 'the Rookery'.

All in all it was an ok ride given the conditions, St Mathas will have to wait for the weekend.

As an aside, John coudn't make it out tonight and Jo was nowhere to be seen but rumour has it that the've been moonlighting with the Muddy Moles
