Can't really believe that this has been proposed but it is real and is a danger to  this wonderful area of AONB.  An application has been submitted to drill for oil on Leith Hill in the vacinity of Coldharbour. Not only would this look awful, involve the widening of Coldharbour lane and implementaion of traffic controls but would also destroy a great area used regularly by loads of Mountain Bikers, Horse Riders, Walkers and others who enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside.

I would urge anyone who uses not only this particular area of the hill but any part of the Surrey Hills to strongely object to this application. If succesful in the hunt for oil in this location then who knows where they'll target next. Blackheath near Guildford is also being looked at for Gas reserves while a oil field does already exist near Brockham.
