A new learning resource, to improve the health and wellbeing of older people in Skye and Lochalsh, has been developed in partnership with home economic students from Plockton and Portree High Schools.

The third pupils were challenged by Skye & Lochalsh Food Link (SLFL) to design a nutritionally sound and easy prepared meal, which was recently staged to a gathering of Skye and Lochalsh Lunch Clubs.

They also designed and produced fridge magnets that featured innovative, yet simple, health and food hygiene messages.

SLFL was awarded funding by Highland Council, through Food Standards Agency Scotland’s scheme for Food Hygiene and Healthy Eating Initiatives, to run the project in partnership with Plockton and Portree High Schools.
