Welcome to Our Farmers' Market

A well organised Market, held in the centre of the town, it has really taken off and is being extremely well supported. It has tremendous choice, including Abroath Smokies, at various times of the year being smoked on the spot.

Great for the visiting holiday maker as well as locals.

Angus Farmers Market was one of the first of Scotland's 50 markets to be set up, nearly five years ago, and is now run by Angus Farmers Market Limited, a company wholly owned by many of the stallholders.

The Market boasts over 20 stallholders of whom at least 18 now attend on a regular basis and sell everything from organic produce through to conventionally grown crops including cabbages, cauliflowers, leeks, potatoes, carrots, turnips, sprouts, lettuce and even marrows.Fresh free-range eggs and chickens, beef, lamb, pork, venison and fish are nearly always in attendance.

Other products sold at the market include oatmeal, home baking, cheese, fruit in season, flowers, bulbs, and preserves. Herbs, drink, and seasonal produce make regular appearances, as do smoked meats and cheeses. All meat is sold vacuum packed for a longer shelf life and makes it suitable for freezing.

Every first Saturday of the month many people attend our Market. Customers can discuss the produce on sale and even get a tip or two about how to prepare and cook certain items. The producer will tell you where and how the animal has been reared, and how the vegetable has been grown.

The Montrose market is right in the heart of the High Street and since its inception in 2005 is becoming very popular with locals and visitors alike.

Customers can make use of the extremely good free car parking facilities nearby.

Buying at Farmers Markets is a greener way to shop. There are fewer transport miles on the produce sold at the Markets. Fresh produce sold at the Markets means just that -  fresh - not goods travelling long distances on lorries or sitting in cold stores for two or three weeks.

Just what you need to make your shopping basket more wholesome for all the family! Angus Farmers Market provides a warm welcome to all of its customers, and the highest quality of freshest Angus produce.
