Welcome,

Music is a very big part of my life.  I love music. I find the best music of all to be Motown or Soul from the 60s but also a lot of the new R&B singers of today have a lot to offer.

Soul , Jazz , Blues and Latin are also in my collection. Only recently Iv  been listening to singers like " Diana Krull " and also a singer called  " Melody Gardot "  two really  great singers.

                         Diana Krull

Melody Gardot

In a way these two singers are very much the same. Both sing with true conviction to there art. Diana Krull who sings classic songs and brings them to new life and Melody Gardot who sings newer material but leaves you wanting more as the song ends.

But really there are so many good singers out there at the moment. I like to be introduced to new singers and music all the time. Thats why I love looking at sites like YouTube and Daily Motion, just looking at other peoples choices of music.

Youtube and Daily Motion are great places to find new music. The record companies have accounts with these sites and put the official videos on them. Together with the many people who make videos themselves of the music they like.  Your always sure to find something new, or even something old that you never heard the first time.

For me I think the best Motown singer was Marvin Gaye. What ever song he sang he sang with true soul, giving all he had, and more. Also the best Motown album ever recorded was "Whats Going On" by the same man "Marvin Gaye" . Each track on the album is a gem.

Another great singer from the Motown label is Stevie Wonder. He writes some of the best music ever recorded. Just listen to his album that came out a few years back " The Definitive Collection" a double album and each track shows his ability to create great music.

Even his early music from the 60s sound fresh   today as it must have sounded when first released.

Just keep it in your car, your`ll find yourself playing it over and over again.

I like different kinds of music. Only a few weeks ago I found this by a guy called "Roman Styx" he`s a D.J and he mixed this new version of an old Beatles classic. Have a listen, tell me what you think.  www.youtube.com/watch

Coming back to Motown. I must draw your attention to a rather special Motown single. It was recorded by a radio presenter on the Mo-West label, part of Motown. Its so well produced and its a great shame its not heard much now on radio, the name of the track is        " What The World Needs Now " by  " Tom Clay ".

This single says so much in just a six minute recording, have a listen.

 Melody  Gardot

The new Melody Gardot single is out now in the UK. Once you listen to this peace of music your`ll know that Melody Gardot will be around for a very long time. She must be one of the best singers in the world today.

She sings with passion and emotion. Her music is rich, full of her life and her feelings.  Mix that with a superb voice , it only shows what a great talent can do.

QUOTE FROM THE "U.K Times"

In her brief career up to now, this American singer-songwriter has already established a reputation as a low-key performer, but the notion of building a performance around an extended sequence of ballads might have seemed a step too far. No doubt one or two fans who are not yet familiar with her new album, My One and Only Thrill, will have found the experience daunting. Still, this was a triumphant performance by a singer-songwriter who is becoming one of the major talents of our time. This singer is going to the top, the very top.                      Is she a jazz vocalist? Not exactly. Her classy musicians certainly come from the jazz tradition, but the songs themselves draw on a fascinating amalgam of styles. There is a touch of Peggy Lee's poetry, a hint of Norah Jones and Joni Mitchell, not to mention the spare bossa nova guitar chords of Caetano Veloso. On her new project she adds violins to the blend, Vince Mendoza's glorious arrangements often conjuring echoes of those Hollywood masters. This girl is good.

Another good singer who I like is the son of " James Taylor and Carly Simon" his name is "Ben Taylor" he`s a  folk singer who writes his own music. Once again just like Melodys music his songs have great meaning. Click this link, I think this song is so real and truthful.

As you can see he looks so much like his dad and also sings like him. He`s pretty cool and his albums are so good.

One of the most famous icons of the 60s, Twiggy, so beautiful then and still so beautiful now . Working for " M&S " now in T.V adverts.

I find my passion for Motown and the whole 60s culture is immense.

I love the music , the fashion , the movies and the whole social culture that was happening in the 60s. The youth of the world was asking questions, Never before did young people want a change like in the 60s. They felt liberated and wanted to shrug off everything from the past.

Fashion was coming alive for young people in the 60s. Up until then the young had to look like there parents.

Fashion houses like "BIBA" started new trends and brought out new fashions each week.

It was what the young wanted and not what the grown-ups wanted.

It was the first time that young people had money to spend and wanted to spend it on things they wanted not something they was told to spend it on.

Just like the music, fashion went through a revolution as well. For the first time the young had freedom to express themselves in a way that only they knew. Up till then the young had to put up with what was given to them. The 60s changed all that.

For the first time female fashion was getting brave enough to add "Fun" into its creations. Never before did fashion show off the female body like the 60s.

Disigners in the UK ruled the world. No other country came close to British fashion , and London was the main heart of all the fashion houses.

Music was changing, Fashion was changing and the whole of social culture was changing. Not only for the young but also for the older population. People was being liberated by the extra money they had.
