29 April 2012

This week the Mayfield Inn had their bye so their rivals had to win to sustain their respective challenges and they done just that as Easthouses took all the points up for grabs against the Salters except for the Triples so therefore are now top of the League Singles with only four games left to play.

Still waiting for the teamsheet from this match but obtained the result from Easthouses Website.

The Maysons also sustained their challenge with a close fought 5-3 win in the Singles up at Pathhead Jordan Woods and Gary Mason both had 17 dart legs for the away team and Jordan also hit a maximum his fifth of the season,The home team could only manage a win in the Neilson Pairs as the Maysons went on to winning everthing else on the night.

Singles Qualifiers
20 April 2012

On Tuesday 17th of April 2012 at Easthouses Miners Club there was a record entry of 127 darts players however a few dropped out before the competition began for various reasons.

There was some great darts played though however it was one of those nights that things did not always go so smoothly, hindsight being a wonderful thing there should have been at least another two boards to enable more games to be played and possibly finish the event within a reasonable time.

There was also suggestions from some of the players as the Singles is a popular competition perhaps it would be a better idea to run it at two venues and who know's this may be come an eventuality for next season.

Anyway we are where we are and there are still 32 players left in years competition,so expect an earlier start to this years Finals day on Saturday 2nd of June 2012 to accomodate the extra games that will now have to be played.

Well done to everyone that has qualified and good luck on Finals day.

League Secretary Is To Resign..!
16 April 2012

Hi Everyone

It is my intention to vacate the League Secretary's position at the end of this current season due to personal commitments.

I would like to thank everyone who has assisted me over the last two years in my tenure performing the role especially Stevie Gerrard and Rab Ewing who do a grand job performing their respective roles within the commitee.

Sadly I will not be able to continue with the website but was hopeful that whoever is elected as new secretary may want to take on the ownership of the website and maintain and perhaps even take it to the next level.

When I started the website in March 2010 it only got 50 hits within its first few months and now thanks to everyone who visits the site has already had 2862 hits in this year alone.

I actually got the idea from Mike Burgess who has the Lothians Darts website and has helped promote darts by giving a lot of profile to most of the websites in the Lothian's Area.

I wish whoever is elected the very best of luck and will hopefully manage to get along to perhaps one or two games next season again commitments permitting.

Hope to see you all at tomorrows nights competition and good luck to everyone who has entered.

Cheers

Jose Brown

08 April 2012

The Ship Inn were the team in form this week as they caused one of the biggest shocks of  this season as they beat League leaders the Mayfield Inn 5-3 in the Singles,John Laing was  the man of the match as he hit four ton plus scores which included a 131 checkout against Ronnie Simpson who hit three ton plus scores himself.

The Ship Inn also won the Triples and shared a point in the Pairs with the away team getting the points in the Fours and the Neilson Pairs.

Easthouses Miners Club A are a team very much in form and they knew they would face a tough game against last years champs the Dean Tavern although they were 2-0 down produced the goods and won their Singles match 5-3 which means they are now only one point behind current leaders the Mayfield Inn in the League Singles and are definately in contention of winning this years title.

Easthouses Miners A went onto winning the Pairs,Fours and Neilson Pairs with the Dean having to settle for a win in the Triples.

M.C.C. were at home to Grants and had a mixed bag of results winning the Pairs,Neilson Pairs and Triples however the men from Gorebridge took the Singles and Fours with Alec Turnbull hitting an 18 dart leg which included three ton plus scores and Kevin Stobbart in fine form for the home team with a 156 checkout on the night.

Woodburn Miners had a good night when they travelled to play E.B.C. they earned wins in the Singles, Pairs,Fours and most importantly the Triples in which they are only one point adrift of the leaders the Dean Tavern with one game in hand. The home team had to settle for a win in the Neilson Pairs.

Mayfield Inn are still top of the League Singles after a good win at home to the Harrow with Ronnie Simpson the star player with a fantastic 12 dart leg which comprised of 135-140-95-131 checkout which is now the best leg so far this season superb stuff from Ronnie.

The Dean Tavern were at home to the Maysons and this was surely the game of the week as the Maysons who only had seven players played really well and took all three points with Jordan Wood their star man with another 180 and a nice 15 dart leg against Davie Rowley,Stevie Dall also had a good game and is the first player this season to inflict defeat on Greig Glover who had put together a record of 21 win's out of 21 games played.Pete Robb who won the last leg to ensure all three points has only lost one game this season and is also in contention for Player of the Year.

The Maysons earned a point in the Pairs to maintain top spot in this league and also had good wins in the Fours and Neilson Pairs while the home team did manage a win in the Triples.

Grants had to concede home advantage as there was issues with their venue so their game was played at Woodburn Miners Club however this did not hinder the men from Gorebridge as they claimed a very good 5-3 win in the Singles with Paul Campbell hitting a nice 18 dart leg against John Cameron,They also had good wins in the Neilson Pairs and the Fours.

The Woodburn team had some success of their own though and managed wins in the Pairs and Triples and George Graham hit a 180 on the night,Woodburn will be pleased with their win in the Triples as they are very much in contention for this title.

Meanwhile up at Easthouses Miners Club the B team were at home to the Salters and took another heavy defeat as they lost all five events to a team that has certainly improved over the last few weeks.
