WELCOME TO MALCOLM ARCHIBALD'S WEBSITE

Many thanks for visiting this site. Before you go further, I would like to introduce myself.

I was born and bred in Edinburgh, capital city of Scotland, but have moved around a bit since then. At present I live in Moray, about 40 miles east of Inverness and about 65 miles west of Aberdeen. Since graduating as a mature student in Dundee University, I have been employed mainly as a lecturer and researcher, with a bit of writing thrown in. However, I have also been a postman, worked in retail, agriculture and...well, too many things to put down here. Suffice to say that life has been interesting.

I have been very happily married to Cathy for over 28 years, and have three fantastic children and a granddaughter that I should spend a lot more time with. So I have no complaints at all.

I have been writing for as long as I care to remember, and to date have produced seventeen books of various sizes, and a number of articles and short stories. My Scottish Animal and Bird Folklore was selected for the Scottish Book Fortnight, while Whales for the Wizard won the Dundee Book Prize in 2005. As my main interest is history, most of my books have a historical focus. I am also a member of the Society of Authors and of the Historical Novelist Society.

As you will see, I write both fiction and non-fiction, and each page of this site should open on a different theme; either the background to a particular type of book, eg, The Boer War, or a particular series, eg, The Matthew Pryde Adventures.
