Only 20 miles from Inverness and set in the beautiful Victorian Spa town of Strathpeffer, Mackenzie House makes an superb base for visiting any of the Highland-5 purpose-built group of mountain-biking centres here in the Highlands. All within an easy hour's driving away, you can visit Learnie Red Rocks on the Blackisle, Golspie's Highland Wildcat trails , Abriachan near Drumnadrochit , Carbisdale & Balblair by Bonar Bridge.

Not forgetting here in the Strath itself . Home to the infamous Strathpuffer24 , the UK's only winter 24 hour endurance mountain-bike event you'll find there's loads of lovely natural singletrack in the local forests. You can even cycle off-road all the way to Ullapool if you are looking for a bigger challenge.This is a wonderful rural area offering peace and tranquillity. The local amenities include a fantastic variety of off and on-road cycling with the excellent Square Wheels Cycle shop a few hundred metres away.

This is a wonderful rural area offering peace and tranquillity and for those who are not cyclists there are plenty of other amenities including hill walking and climbing with the nearby Munro, Ben Wyvis. A hilly and challenging 18 hole golf course and there's plenty of fishing. The world famous Inverewe Gardens and the Isle of Skye are also all an easy day's drive away. The restored Strathpeffer Pavilion has an ever changing programme of events and a light and airy restaurant which has a fresh modern menu.

There are also couple of pub's, cafe's, a Belgian chocolate shop, a Fairtrade giftshop and the Highland Museum of Childhood.There's also a local supermarket with Post Office and ATM machine.
