Handball tournament
29 May 2006
The senior team travelled to Alness on Sunday to play. Teams from Ardgay, Inverness and Glasgow made up a four way tournament. A win over Glasgow 28-26 and defeats by Ardgay 23-18 and Inverness 25-15 saw everyone come back over the Glen a bit deflated. Having time to reflect on it the team should be very proud of what was achieved. Na Feidh were the only Highland team to field a full complement of players. Places such as Ardgay/Tain and Inverness turning up with 4 or 5 players only goes to show how Handball in Wester Ross has gained a strong foot hold in the past year and argues well for the future. With an age range of 13 to 40+ it is great credit to all concerned of how they play as a team and work so well together. It must be frustrating for the older players to have to rely on such young heads to make up the team but they cope well and the willingness of these younger players to compete against adults must be applauded. Tony Stevens, Graham Leonard, Emma Wiseman, Richard Moir, Judith Matheson, Andy Vickerstaff, Angela Tattersall and Mel MacLean should all hold there heads up high this morning for 3 fine displays yesterday.
