|Lochbroom and Ullapool Growers Group(LUGG) | sitemap | log in|
LUGG was originally set up as a community based project to grow affordable food for the local community within the boundary of the village of Ullapool. We currently have 27 members made up of growers, supporters, and potential consumers. Growing is currently done individually in gardens, crofts etc. We also operate a local farmers market selling a wide range of local/Highland produce.
Our aim is to promote the production and distribution of locally grown produce and to provide such facilities/land for those in the community from disadvantaged areas or housing with only small or inadequate garden facilities. We would like to supply the bulk of all fruit and vegetables sourced within the Ullapool area.
Our most urgent requirement is land, ideally within the centre of the village to enable access for all community sectors, especially those without transport. We are also trying to find funding for a polytunnel, tools and possibly a part-time co-ordinator.
Members are welcome! whether as volunteers, supporters, growers/producers. Membership is free
