Barn Back to Winning Ways... 26 February 2012 After many games being called off over the winter due to bad weather fixtures were rescheduled and Barn were handed an away fixture at bottom of the table side King Street FC who had only managed to register 3 points so far this term. Barn prepared well and took this game just as any other and it seemed just aswell. Despite Ladybarn starting the brighter of the 2 sides and playing some good football they were struggling to find a way through in the final 3rd and King Street looked able on the ball and were too playing some good football in phases. Barns midfield of Swain, Howard, Rimmer & Donnelly were playing very well and this was proven when Donnelly crossed a ball deep into the back post which after a bit of a scramble fell nicely to Howard to fire home. 1-0 to Ladybarn at Halftime. At halftime it was mentioned how much room there was outwide and that this should be utilised by Cloran, George, Swain & Donnelly & it was Swain who's 'shot' from the right was pushed out into the path of Law for him to extend Barns lead shortly after the break. Ladybarns second seemed to spurn King Street into life somewhat and after a short spell of pressure they capitalised when a ball over the top of Gilmartin was poorly headed into the middle of Barns box by Cloran leaving Potter & Gilmartin second best to King Streets forward who duly ablidged to slot home and make it 2-1. At this point King Street thought they were right in the game but credit to Ladybarn who soon found there stride again with good work down both flanks coming from Swain & Donnelly with Howard doing well to link play and support the 2 wide men. The 4th goal of the afternoon and Ladybarns 3rd came with some neat link up play down the left leaving Howard to lay the ball off to Cloran who's lofted cross to the back post was met by Law heading back across the keeper to secure his 2nd of the game. This seemed to knock Kingstreet somewhat and Law quickly completed his hatrick firing in from close range. 4-1 Ladybarn. The game was wrapped up with not long left on the clock when arguably the goal of the game (the best header in Sunday League Football as some have dubbed it) came when Birchall found space on the left and was supported by Cloran who sent in a whipped cross which was instinctively glanced across the goalkeeper and into the top corner by the head of the impressive Swain who was deserving of his goal. A good all round performance from Ladybarn especially 2nd half now leaves them well placed in the league with games in hand to hopefully cement a good end to the season in the coming weeks/months.
