Cup Run Over...
12 February 2012

Being drawn away against FC Navigation in both cups is never good news but after a 3-1 loss in the 1st cup tie earlier on in the season Barn knew what to expect from a Navigation side flying high at the top of the 1st Division.

Ladybarn started the brighter of the 2 sides and had the better of the opening exchanges and were rewarded when a long throw in by Birchall was flicked on and headed home by Potter.

This looked to have shaken Navigation who were hit again within minutes of the Barn opener by a looping effort from all of 35 yards by Malik. 0-2 to The Barn within 5 minutes.

Navigation now applied pressure to Ladybarn who were doing well to defend as a unit and overcome attack after attack from Naviagtion whilst still managing to put together some neat passages of football.

The Ladybarn defence was finally breached when a low ball across the 6 yard area was turned in to bring Navigation back into the game at 1-2. A second shortly followed for Navigation when a speculitive effort from outside the area found its way past Platt off both posts and in.

At 2-2 both sides were creating good chances and Navigations pressure on the Barn goal was finally rewarded when they headed in a corner from 6 yards out.

Going 3-2 down seemed to spark Ladybarn and with some substitutions they slowly started to apply pressure to Naviagtion and pin them back into their own half. Good chances came from Swain & Howard but with Ladybarn unable to find the net in the closing stages it finished 3-2.

A tough start back to a somewhat stop-start new year due to weather conditions should like the weather ease up as Ladybarn take on King Street next.
