Barn Lose Out to East Levenshulme
04 December 2011

Ladybarn players turned up to this game in good spirit with moustaches gone and ready to take on an East Levenshulme team that were slowly dropping down the table.

The Barn started well and dominated posession and their dominance was rewarded when some good work again down the right from Donnelly lead to a ball being stood up at the back post for Barns leading goalscorer Swain to tuck away. 1 - 0 Ladybarn.

This early goal looked like it would open the flood gates for Barn against a somewhat depleted East Levenshulme but as per previous weeks Barn took their foot off the gas and invited pressure. Pressure which lead to a goal coming from Ladybarns left as a low driven cross was converted to make it 1 - 1.

This seemed to shock the Ladybarn players who struggled to create when in posession and were giving the ball away far too easily. By this point East Levenshulme had grown into the game and their right winger and centre forward were causing Barn defenders all sorts of problems with their good movement and pace on the ball.

Some sloppy defending lead to East levenshulmes 2nd and a 3rd followed shortly. Both carbon copies of their 1st goal which left Law helpless in Barns net. 1 - 3.

Ladybarn felt hard done by at half time and knew they could raise it a few gears which in turn they did with most of the 2nd half football being played in East Levenshulmes half. Both Vesey brothers and Potter unlucky not to find the back of the Levenshulme net after good chances.

With Barn pressing for a 2nd goal which would have surely lead to a 3rd and a share of the spoils they were again caught out at the back and a deflected shot took its way past Law to secure all 3 points for East Levenshulme. 1 - 4.

As Law quite rightly said at full time I think we need to put it down as a bad day at the office and press on. From the way the East Levenshulme players celebrated you could see they got a result they weren't expecting and that's credit for how we have played up to now this season.

Barns next test comes away to lead leaders Bricklayers Arms who have only lost out once in the league, that at the hands of Ladybarn.
