KFC 3-2 curry(W)HOose

KIrkhill have claimed the League Championship after coming out on top in a play off at the Bught Park.

The first half possesion wrestled between the 2 sides with KIrkhill playing into the wind and Curryhoose should really have taken the lead after 20 minutes when a free kick rebounded off the bar and fell for them 7 yards out but a lack of composure saw the shot woefully sent wide.  The next piece of action saw the Douglas Laird been taken out just inside the box with his hands on the ball to which the referee waved play on. Despite Laird lying close to death on the turf.  eventually play was stopped and Laird bravely carried on inbetween the sticks making some important saves to see the half ending level.

Kirkhill came out in the 2nd half meaning business and in the 51st minute Curryhoose swung a corner into the box which was cleared and then begun a Kenny Lyall run to the by line where he sent the ball into the box wand Raymond Harrison who ran the length of the field slotted the ball nicely into the corner.

Kenny Lyall threatened as the half went on a couple of times before he left 3 defenders for dead and rifled a shot into the far corner to put Kirkhill 2-0 up with 20 minutes to go.

Curryhoose then pulled a goal back with 10 minutes remaining with a close range header.

Kenny Lyall restored Kirkhills 2 goal lead when he raced clear and i say toe poked he says curled the ball past the keeper a minute before time.

Curryhoose pulled one back when an overhit freekick found its way into the net after keeper Lairds only mistake of the game was letting the ball go over him, But it was too little to late and KIrkhill were crowned Champions and lifted the Division 3 Championship Trophy.

The Team celebrated long into sunday night and some into monday morning as they brought the silverwear back to the bogroy for a long overdue celebration.

With celebrations now put on hold till the official team end of season championship winning party.

The club would like to thank all players and supporters for being there during the season.
