Kirkhill advance to the next round of the Division 3/4 cup on penalties after a hard fought match.
Both sides converting penalties in the first half to go into the break level. Terry Ivanys penalty levelled things up for Kirkhill. A penalty that was won after Martin Mainland cut into the box from the wing and after taking the ball past the defender he was brought down. Allowing Ivany to slot home the penalty.
Callum Cross put Kirkhill into the lead after he was played through and he cooly chipped the keeper from 20 yards. Portland equallising with just 2 minutes remaining after a freekick swung in from the left was met by the unmarked attacker and he headed past the keeper. Extra Time it was to be.
Afterr a goalless 1st half of extra time, Portland took the lead when the midfielder came forward and shot low from the edge of the box taking a deflection off the defender and evading the keeper as the ball slipped under him. With just 20 seconds remaining Terry Macallister rescued the tie for Kirkhill when he found himself in the box and from the angle curled the ball into the net high past the keeper.
Terry Macallister,Terry Ivany, Mark Mcginty and Daniel Lawson scored from the spot and a John Morrison penalty that resembled Roberto Baggios in the 1994 World cup final sailed over the bar and infact was worse than mr Baggios by quite some way, The ball is believed to be just reaching the moons lunar area. Paul Christie saving one of the Portland penalties on the line to make up for the earlier misjudgement of the ball finding its way through.
