An interesting summer and still progressing in a very positive way. As mentioned in an earlier message the Friends of Rye Wurlitzer Committee voted in favour of separating itself from the Rye Wurlitzer Academy.

An application has been completed and is currrently being processed for the following status:-
The Rye Wurlitzer Academy - Registered Charity - CIO. Charitable Incorporated Organisation.

A new bank account has been set up with Barclays and details are at the end of this message for those who wish to Sponsor a Student or amend their current details for RWA for a possible future donation. Which ever it is it will be most welcome.

Thanks goes to Glen Twamley (Treasurer) and Andrew Swarbrick (Secretary) for agreeing to be co-trustees, Tim Wardley in assisting in settin the new organisation up. Michael Wooldridge for his guidance where needed and, last but not least our technical expert David Wattenbach in maintaining the wonderful Wurlitzer.

We also have our wonderful parental team who will be meeting shortly and more news will come from this meeting which I will report on to other  parents, students and supporters where required.

I must not forget to mention our four students who took part in the UK Young Theatre Organist of the Year at Fentham Hall at the end of July, a magnificent afternoon with Thomas Pickering taking the winner's position and Jamyma Hanson runner up.

Both students now have the opportunity in performing in Ipswich, Woking, West Surrey and Bristol in the year ahead, and no doubt there will be other opportunties coming thier way.

This is wonderful recognition for the Rye Wurlitzer Academy and the ethos it has maintained since day one (despite some rocky financial times) of offering free tuition and practise instrument to all students.

So, onto the new college year.

Dates for our autumn events were previously advertised which due to various reasons that have ocurred since our last message we would now like to change.

STUDENT PRESENTATON CONCERT
This will now take place on Tuesday 21st October with 11 of our students taking part plus their wonderful teacher Michael Wooldridge. 7pm for 7.30 start. Tickets £5 which includes our customary fine cakes. Tea/Coffee and Soft drinks will also be on sale. There will of course be our usual raffle that helps in boosting funds. Your support for this special evening is very much appreicated.

SILENT MOVIE EVENING
Although we wanted to support the local Wild Boar Week it did in fact clash with the college being closed for half term which makes things more challenging in the general run up to things and of course people being away. So, our movie night will now be on Saturday 8th November when we proudly present Michael Wooldridge at the Wurlitzer perfroming the classic Buster Keaton epic THE GENERAL. Tickets will include popcorn, tea/coffee and cake served in the interval. Our previous movie nights have been very well supported and we hope that this evening will be the same. Our fund raising events are invaluable to the success of the project.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT 2014
This date remains unchanged, Friday 5th December, when we present our traditional evening of Christmas Songs and Carols with the help of the Wurlitzer, Singers and this year Handbell ringers from St.Andrews Church in Catsfield along with a little Christmas fun and merriment thrown in for good measure. The evening starts at 7.30pm and tickets will include mince pies and tea/coffee served in the interval.

By now you may be getting a little sleepy as this message has gone on longer than first planned, but important none the less.

Thank you for your past support which I very much hope continues into the future we have some exciting things planned subject to support and our revised application to the Heritage Lottery Fund once charity status is formally up and running.

No doubt I shall be writing to you again.

Very Best Wishes......Richard Moore
