Invasion of privacy threat to artistes?

Facebook is an Internet social utility that connects people with friends and others who want to keep in touch with each other.
A BBC new report says that is now being used more by the over fifties.
However, there is another side to this modern facility of keeping in touch that applies particularly to those in the public eye - in our case organists-keyboard players.
More than one than player has withdrawn from this social network because they felt their private life was being invaded by those who had dubious motives. 
We would therefore welcome views of readers, views that may be welcomed by those who want to benefit from the experience of others.  Let's chat about it!
