Change Over - after 30 years

Last Sand Bay October Festival - 15th October 2010

The target date for Cled Griffin is 4th December 2010, which is thirty years to the day when he produced the first Home Electronic Organ Festival at Pontin’s Barton Hall, Torquay.

The anniversary of the event will take place at the Sherborne Hotel at Sherborne in Dorset (3rd - 6th December 2010) when the Keyklix Klan, with the leader Andy Oakley, will be present their special Christmas warm up during the Turkey and Tinsel weekend.

On reaching his target date, Cled Griffin will be handing over the productions to son Ian, who, incidentally, is now the same age as his father was when he introduced the events to the UK in 1980.

Ian’s future events will cater for the changes in the keyboard-organ scene and they will take place at specially selected hotels venues more suitable for mature age groups.

With this in mind, it will be farewell to the Sand Bay October keyboard festivals where Cled introduced some new features to make it different to all the other residential events, which now exceed thirty in number.

With so many events for enthusiasts to choose from, Ian now has the task and challenge of being innovative and presenting new ideas at venues to suit an ever changing keyboard scene. He already holds the distinction of being the only player who devotes the second half of his concerts to requests made by the audience. Ian believes that giving audiences what they want is the key to success.

Cled wishes to thank everyone who has helped to make his events a big success, saying that each and every one has been a team effort.
