First of all let me tell you a little about me.

I am now retired, a man of leisure you might say. I worked as a head chef for many years before moving on to diferent things. My last job was teaching horticulture, having gained a RHS qualification in Horticulture and later a BSc and MSc in ecology and habitat management. Alongside the teaching I was also supporting young people with learning difficulties.

I now divide my between France and England. In France my wife and I live in rural Brittany, a region full of history. We are not too far from le Mont St Michel, or the Bayeaux tapistry, or the largest mediaevel castle in Europe, that of Fougere. In England we live in the north west close to Liverpool.

My interests include writing - of course, and horticulture, growing my own vegetables and fruit, travel, and enjoying what the French are famous for - their food and wine.  Although Brittany is not a wine producing region it does produce cider and in our neighbouring region Normandy they are famous for the apple spirit - Calvados.

We are close to the Normandy border - 15 minutes - so Cider growing is prominent thoughout this part of France.

In this website I'll talk about my writing, our part of France and various horticultural topics particularly my one-time passion, orchid growing - something I did for over twentyfive years.
