Mother and son actors, Karol and Ben Steele attended a special screening of the new Les Miserables motion picture on Tuesday (4 December) a day before it's official World Premiere in London.
The pair were invited to the Cast and Crew screening at the Odeon in Leicester Square, which was also attended by star Hugh Jackman who plays Jean Valjean, director Tom Hooper and producer Cameron Macintosh. Karol and Ben were both cast in minor roles in the film after attending a open audition in Chatham in January. Karol plays a factory woman, while Ben is one of the poor in the musical number At The End of The Day.
Ben, who is a second year undergraduate at Canterbury Christ Church University's centre in Folkestone, took time out from revising for his performance exam the following day (5 December); he also took time out from rehearsing for his show, They've Landed, which will be staged at the Quarterhouse on 11 December. Ben said, "I wouldn't have missed the screening for anything - this is my first and one I will always remember!"
Karol said, "Hugh, Tom and Cameron all made speeches saying how grateful they were for the contribution we'd all made to the movie, and Hugh even made jokes about the things we had to do while filming it. All the hard work was worth it as it is stunning!"
