Holidays to Jersey – So Many Places to Shop

One of the things you must do in Jersey is a bit of shopping. Indeed, a holiday in Jersey is incomplete without it!

So, in between discovering historic castles and museums and exploring the beautiful beaches, coves, countryside and gardens take a look at some of the shops you might want to browse around during your holiday in Jersey.

Jersey’s covered shopping centre is at Liberty Wharf and is set in a beautiful historic building at the entrance to the town, and just 5 minutes from the harbour. It’s open daily and is a great way to shop, strolling along cobbled streets as you discover a new world of shopping.

Wander around St. Helier’s unique fashion boutiques for hand-picked collections from leading designers. Apart from the main shopping street there’s a whole host of pedestrian only side streets, that all offer something different.

St. Helier has two major department stores, de Gruchy and Voisins where you’ll find most things all in one place. Look out for the white facades that make these stores easy to spot. Although around 200 years old they’ve been totally refurbished and are completely up to date in terms of how they look and what they sell, which is everything from beauty to electrical products. De Gruchy in particular has a great cosmetics hall, all the top beauty and perfume brands. The latest women’s fashions are available as well as designer name brands for men.

Voisins has similar products although of course the fashions will be largely exclusive to them.

During the year there’s a special programme of Farmers’ Markets and one-off shopping events with the town squares and harbours being transformed into bustling markets with the added enjoyment of live entertainment.

Much of this is focussed on local produce but there are local and uniquely crafted gift items and paintings from local artists.

St Helier Market

Here you’ll find 36 market stalls selling just about everything you might need from flowers and fresh fruit to jewellery and antiques.

Beresford Market

This is the fish market, highly regarded for its high quality fish and congenial atmosphere.

Weighbridge Square

Here you’ll find Jersey Farm and Craft Night Markets, local produce and craft stalls in a lovely setting and on other day’s lively and traditional French markets. A great place to buy food and drink for that picnic, fresh bread, patisserie and a wonderful choice of wines...French of course!

You of course don’t have to shop ‘til you drop...you’re on holiday after all, especially as there are so many lovely cafes to rest up at in between stores, but suffice it to say, your holiday to Jersey wouldn’t be the same without a few special purchases! For more information, visit here.
