Welcome

...and congratulations on becoming one of the many thousands of people around the world who have chosen to holiday in the Isle of Harris.

                                  Cabhalan Cottage

So, what do I do next?

Have a look at a map of the Isle of Harris....................

As you will see the Island is surrounded by sea - on the west side of the Island are beaches - see above........

in the north of Harris, where Harris is joined to the Isle of Lewis are mountains - not so high but but due to their exposed nature - definitely deserving the title of mountains

The highest of these is Clisham at approximately 800 metres.

And on the eastern side of Harris - known as "the Bays" - are a myriad of small sheltered bays and rocky inlets

where you can see many ever-changing views like this.

Harris is the southern-most part of the Island of Lewis & Harris with a population of around 2200 people. It has a unique flora & fauna and incredible unspoilt visas – some people describe it as being like “the-surface-of-the-moon” with rocky bays and headlands on the East coast and magnificent empty “machair” beaches and sand dunes on the Western Atlantic coast. While in the south between Harris and North Uist is the marine paradise of the Sound of Harris, striated with rocks and islets and abundant with seals, basking sharks, puffins, cormorants.

An Island where you can ‘hear’ silence!
