Unable to buy food

atleast we have a young star arising

MP Mhairi Black has hit out at the Tories for the sanctions with many feeling the sanctions have caused them serious problems.

Benefit claimants have lifted the lid on the horrific impact sanctions had on their lives – including being made homeless with young children.

People of all ages shared their experiences with the Record as MP Mhairi Black prepares to debate her plans to improve the system at Westminster today.

One woman said she lost her home twice and was unable to buy food. A man said he lost benefits when his mental health problems left him unable to sign on.

The claimants, from all over Britain, are among 9000 people who responded to Black’s call for evidence.

The SNP member for Paisley and Renfrewshire South drew up her proposals in an attempt to tackle the “indignity” of the sanctions regime.

Black described the current system as barbaric, with benefits staff having no leeway when it comes to imposing financial penalties.
