Cookie cases 18 June 2011 Cookies We Don't LikeSome of us will have come across websites that don't display their content. This is because of the way they have been set up to require a cookie, that is, deposited information to know the user's computer on subsequent visits and to monitor other aspects. Accepting cookies from some sites can lead to unwanted invisible information being stored on your computer. That is why the default setting on Apple-Mac computers is such that it limits cookies - see the the settings below. It should not be necessary to alter these default setting that come under the heading of security. Note that the default setting (shown above) blocks cookies from third parties and advertisers - but still allows normal usage. The 'setting control' for cookies on Windows PC's is shown on the following item below. Allowing your computer to accept all cookies is open to question as you will note - if you read 'know more about cookies' - see link in next item. | ![]() |
