CLUB HISTORY

The Club was set up in 2012 by Albert Hogan and Wes Murphy.

The purpose of the club was to promote rare coloured racing pigeons in Ireland by breeding and exhibiting these beautiful birds. We have been affiliated to the Irish National Fancy Pigeon Association since October 2012 and they have shown great support towards our club.

Our club has gone from strength to strength in this time. We currently have 18 members and have had a lot of interest at recent shows from non members.

We recently set up a junior club and had six members  which is great. Our Juniors have to be younger than 18 years old to enable them to exhibit their birds in the Junior Class. The junior class is judged on 1st,2nd,3rd Regardless of colour or sex of the pigeon

In 2014 we introduced five colour classes at our shows as this allowed birds to be judged against birds of similar colour. The classes we introduced were Almond, Reduced, Opal, Self/Bar/Check and AOC and this worked out very well at the 2014 Young Bird show which was judged by internationally known judge Thomas Hellman.

Since the formation of the club we had had several international judges judge our shows such as Bruce Pullen ( Engalnd), John Surridge (Engalnd), Jo Taylor(England) and as mentioned above Thomas Hellman (Germany) which has been great for our club and members to have our birds judged by such experts.

We hope to keep moving forward with our club and plan to introduce more colour classes in 2015 and also hope to increase the number of members we have.
