West Town Farm, Ide (just outside Exeter) are hosting an orchard volunteering day on Saturday 24th November. Since 2009, they have been restoring the farm’s old orchards and have planted 300 local varieties of cider and cooking apples, in addition to pear, plum and cherry trees. Now that the season for apples is over the orchards are in need of mulching and pruning but 300 trees present quite a challenge for the small farm team so they hope you'll join them for an enjoyable day on the farm, exercising your green fingers and taking in the beauty of the surrounding fields. The day will be between 10am-3pm, with a delicious lunch of local, organic produce included, so you just need to bring yourselves attired in appropriate clothing.
