The Magdalen Project nr. Chard (Devon/Dorset/Somerset border) is running some very heavily subsidised courses over the winter and spring that I would urge you to attend if you can. They are offering these at a cost of £10 per person for day courses and £25 per person for a weekend residential inclusive of food and accommodation! The Magdalen Project itself is a fantastic place to visit- it is an educational farm that hosts lots of school visits as well as offering therapeutic horticulture experiences and lots of great training sessions. http://www.themagdalenproject.org.uk/

As of today (9/11/12) I have been informed that the pruning and the poultry courses are now over-subscribed but there are still places left on the weekend smallholding residential, the beekeeping, polytunnel horticulture, and fruit and veg. growing courses (not sure about the livestock one- please ring them to check this). To book a place please ring the Magdalen project on 01460 30144 or email lisa@themagdalenproject.org.uk to check current availability. You will then need to complete and return a booking form along with your compulsory £10/£25 donation towards course materials before your place is secure.
