Thanks to Natures bounty there is a heavy crop of good quality early apples available and this is seen as an opportunity to demonstrate how a low-cost, low carbon food local food system could work
Bring your own containers .I might be able to supply some screw top bottles at 10 p/bottle or 5p screw tops or corks for wine bottles. Once pasteurised properly produce should keep , away from heat and freezing for 6months. It can also be preserved by freezing in plastic bottles but I have been informed that this can release toxic pthalates.
Anyone wanting to bring their own apples for pressing is welcome to do so at a cost of 10p/litre to Practical Action
Pressed Juice can be preserved as cider if fermented in an airtight container with an airlock ,process takes 3 months, it can then be converted to cider vinegar by incorporating a piece of mother plant and aerating if possible
If this day is successful it may be possible to hold another later in the season.
