It was another bitterly cold day, with sleet and snow, and a biting wind.  But that didnt stop HogCO and trainer David Loder from delivering the Vegetable Growing course - plot design & crop rotation.

Because the weather was so awful we spent a fair bit of time on theory in the warmth of the newly finished classroom.  But the group braved the elements in the afternoon to pot up some seeds, look at bed design and layout, and discuss favoured methods of getting seeds started.  The group looked at the uses of a glasshouse and polytunnel, and the advantages of raised beds.

The day covered a wide range of subjects, alot of it in response to specific questions and there was alot of enthusiasm to find out more about composting. 

The venue was superb, possibly more suited for those living in North Devon although we still had deligates from Ashburton and Ottery St Mary attending the course!  For those looking at a more southerly location our next two avaialable courses on 30th March and 6th April are in Whitestone, just outside Exeter.
