School Farm CSA
Who we are:
(October 2012)
This project will provide the opportunity for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to learn about and get involved in the production of their own food; develop new skills and learn both basic and novel growing techniques; be physically active in the outdoors; engage with their local community; and connect with a beautiful and productive piece of land, and with one another.
The project will be delivered from School Farm organic, no-dig market garden, a unique and easily accessible site in Dartington, Devon. Through the project we will transform the existing vegetable box scheme at School Farm into a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Scheme which will enable the opportunities above to be realised; allowing greater community involvement, providing training opportunities and contributing towards the sustainability and resilience of the local food system.
Through this project we hope to provide in 2012:
-
24 growing days throughout the season (each covering a specific topic such as bed preparation, propagation, and harvesting)
-
A beginners 'no dig' organic gardening course (which will include monthly half day gardening tuition for up to fifteen participants)
-
Two seasonal events at the farm for up to 50 people at a time
-
Fresh, local, seasonal vegetables and fruit for the community, grown and cared for by the community
-
A website with regular updates and information about the project and the farm, as well as recipes and growing tips.
