The Winkleigh Youth Club have started a community garden project at the Winkleigh Sports Centre. Come and join us and see what we have been up to every Sat morning.

We are already growing lots of herbs, vegetables and soft fruit which are being used by Youth Club members. We are gradually taking over other areas near the car park and will soon be planting some fruit trees and soft fruit bushes. We also hope to build a trellis to protect one area from footballs!

HogCO has provided early advice on project development, funded expert advice on design and plant choices. They also organised a workshop on pickling and preserving for the group.

Who we are

June 2010

Our objective is to turn an area of previously neglected and meaningless shrubbery into a communal orchard/herb garden/general produce garden. As part of the youth club Saturday project this will encourage understanding by young people of the link between growing produce and the kitchen.
