MBAA was formed in August 2008 as there was no allotment in the village of Morchard Bishop. Morchard Bishop Allotment Association has recently been successful in gaining a £3000 grant from the Grassroots Foundation in order to buy and erect a communal shed for the allotment. This was much appreciated and will be used in many different ways - as a shelter; to store tools; to use for our committee meetings; for courses and the occasional social event as well no doubt.
We now have an association of over 25 members and 80 people are involved and busy planting. We have a private arrangement with a local farmer and have turned 1.3 acres of pasture into a fully functioning allotment with car parking for our lovely village. So far we’ve had grants and support from The Big Lottery (Awards For All), Morchard Bishop Parish Council and Mid-Devon District Council for which we are very grateful.
