We have had a successful summer and have managed to split several of our hives so that we now have six - 3 Top-Bar hives and 3 National hives.

We have continued to be mentored by Phil Chandler (the Barefoot Beekeeper) and plan to run beekeeping courses in conjunction with Phil next spring.

Who we are

As the world honeybee population is in crisis, we aim to:

• encourage and support a healthy and resilient environment through natural bee-keeping;
• produce honey whilst recognising the wider importance of bees; and
• learn and share knowledge about natural beekeeping among the diverse groups of the Dart Valley.

Our bees have got off to a buzzing start this spring, so much so that they've expanded from four hives to seven!

We've secured a beautiful sunny spot for them on the Dartington Estate and we're undertaking weekly mentoring sessions with our local natural beekeeping hero 'Phil Chandler'.  We hope to be able to offer courses to more people in the autumn/spring.  Many thanks for your support, without which the bees would be homeless!

HogCO has paid for the materials we needed to build the hives and funded our training with Phil Chandler.
