Colin Porter, Horticulturist (externally funded), continues to spend time with both the Forches and Heppenstall Gardens (15 min walk from Forches). In an effort to bring the two communities together, HogCO is funding a ‘winter planting’ workshop in the next month that will involve work on both sites, with a communal lunch.

Who we are

This project is working with residents on a housing estate to develop their vision of growing their own food in a community garden in partnership with their landlord North Devon Homes.

The group is now constituted, growing veg and taking advantage of the HogCO training.

We aim to:

• create a functional garden for the local community to grow its own food;

• spread knowledge about how food is grown and cooked;

• promote healthy eating;

• help people to gain new skills;

• encourage intergenerational activity;

• be safe and friendly for everyone;

• be an inspirational place; and

• work in partnership with Forches Community Garden for community cohesion.
