Swimming through life

For several years there has always been a member of the Rutledge family swimming with Grantown Swim Club.  This is now no longer the case as youngest sibling, Beth, left the Club at the end of June. Her mother, Cath, shared her thoughts on the benefits of competitive swimming.

“All four of our children have been members over the years and it has been great for them. All of them have loved the experience of racing and competing and coming from Nethybridge it has been a super way to get to know their peers in readiness for starting at the Grammar School.

All four of the children have progressed on to become swim teacher themselves, some even getting their Level 2. Likewise, they have all become NPLQ lifeguards which has allowed them to support themselves through college and university. The oldest, John, has even moved into competing in triathlons, last year representing GB in his age group.

The Swim Club has been a great asset to our children and we are very thankful for the Club and the opportunities it offers.”
