Warm Ups and Cool Downs with Sara Paul

Our grant from Berryburn Community Benefit Fund has allowed us to offer land-based training on a Tuesday at Aviemore Highland Resort. We caught up with fitness trainer Sara Paul to find out more about her and the activities swimmers' will enjoy during her 30 minute session.

“I have started working with the Grantown Swim Club to introduce approaches to warm ups and cool downs for swimming. Over the sessions we will be investigating the purposes of warm ups and cool downs specific to swimming, including both the physical and psychological benefits. We will be practising exercises, with lots of feedback from me to ensure optimal technique. We will be coming up with individually tailored approaches so that each swimmer develops a programme suited to them. I hope they will be able to use their programme both for training sessions and for competitive swims.

Why me, Sara Paul?
I have a MSc in Sports Science and have been working in the fitness industry for more than 21 years.  In London I worked training others to teach fitness, as well as teaching a variety of fitness classes to both fit and less fit (health professional referred) populations. I have a large number of qualifications, including Neuro-Linguistic Programming, enabling me to work with the mind as well as the body. Since arriving to the Grantown area almost nine years ago, I have mainly been teaching yoga, but I am now working with sports specific clubs and with frailer older people in falls prevention."
