Girl power on show at Inverness graded meet

Grantown Swim Club’s girl power was on show at the Inverness Graded Meet on Sat 23 April at Highlife Highland’s Inverness Leisure Centre. Coaching on poolside was Level 2 coach trainee and former Club swimmer Stephanie Macleod, who supported a six strong girl team of Rebecca and Robyn Eaves, Danielle and Lucy Ella Mcmaster, Carys Hollands, and Holly Corcoran.

A speeding ticket went to Lucy Ella Mcmaster in the 10 years and under 50m freestyle for beating the course time.  She collected a bronze medal in her 100m Individual Medley and silver for 50m breast stroke. Meanwhile, sister Danielle won gold for her 100m butterfly and silver in the 100m breast stroke and back stroke, girls 11-12 years old.

Rebecca Eaves swam a personal best time of 1.29.21 in the 100m freestyle girls aged 13-14 years old race, shaving 4.14 seconds off her time.

The end of day was rounded off with a gripping performance in the girls aged 10 and under 200m free style relay. In the team were Robyn Eaves, Carys Hollands, Lucy Ella Mcmaster and Holly Corcoran who finished second in this hotly contested race with a finish time of 2.48.32 seconds.
