Seventy seven swimmers successfully completed the Swim the Spey Challenge 2015 on Sunday 8th November. The fundraising event, organised by Grantown Swim Club, in the swimming pool of the Craig Maclean Leisure Centre was a great success. A total of 8,600 lengths of the 20m pool were swum in record time with the event finishing an hour earlier than planned. The total distance completed was 107 miles or 170km – the length of the River Spey.
A complete range of ages took part from pre-schoolers to grandparents with everyone receiving a certificate and swimming cap regardless of how far they swam. Notable swims were from senior swimmer, Ryan Maclean who swam 500 lengths or 10km and Club Vice Chair, Andy Murphie completing 200 lengths or 4km.
Sponsor money raised will help the Club to train at a 50m swimming pool. You can donate online until Saturday 14 November.
