Pictured with their Saltire Awards, presented during Volunteer's Week 1-7 June, are L-R Beckie Smith, Stephanie Macleod, Connor Macleod and Ryan Maclean. All four, including Beth Ruthledge and Jess Metcalfe (not pictured), received their Saltire Awards for coaching with Grantown Swim Club.
Head coach Cath Moore said: "The senior swimmers are great role models for the younger children. Some of the swimmers have been in Learn to Swim for 7 years and trained with the Club for a further 10 years. They are used to coming to the pool, the discipline of swimming, the environment, the terminology and all the technical details. Developing coaching skills takes time, committment and the ability to work with people.
The National Pool Lifeguarding Qualification and Level 1 Teaching Aquatics are great qualifications for senior swimmers to use for further education or employment."
Thank you to Highlife Highland, SportScotland and Badenoch and Strathspey Sports Council for funding coaching development.
Thank you to parent coaches Kathryn Talbot-Heigh and Emma Baikie who also volunteer their time training swimmers.
