North District Development Meet

8 swimmers from Grantown Swim Club's competition squad travelled to Aberdeen this weekend for the North District Development Meet.
This meet is open to promising swimmers, whose swim times are close to the District Regional Programme Bronze squad qualification times.
The seasons training paid off, with all swimmers managing at least one significant personal best swim.
12 year old Anna Metcalfe took 18 secs off her 200m individual medley event with Anna Harrold (13) taking 13 secs off her 400m freestyle event. Harrold also achieved personal best times in the 200m backcrawl, 200m freestyle and 20m individual medley events. Sibling Angus Harrold (11) took 17 secs off his 200m individual medley event, with a further personal best swim later in day in the 200m freestyle event.
Rebecca Smith (14) produced personal best times in her 200m backstroke event and 200m individual medley, while team mate Stephanie Macleod (15) swam a personal best time in the 200m individual medley and Alex Philip (13) swam a personal best time in the 200m backstroke.
Niamh Peters (11) took 18 seconds off her 400m freestyle time, followed by a personal best time in the 200m breaststroke event. Peters then managed to take 22 seconds of her 200m butterfly time finishing in 4th place - only to be disappointed later to find herself disqualified in the event due to a technical infringement.
Lauren Philip (11) managed strong swims in both her 200m breaststroke and 200m backstroke. Philip just missed out on medals finishing 4th in the breaststroke and 5th in the backstroke -  and she achieved her first ever bronze squad time in the 200m breaststroke finishing in time of 3 mins 30.31 secs.
