Many was the dance I attended in the Hall during the 50's;the last one featured the late Alasdair Downie and his Band. A small Hall but great atmosphere. Best wishes to all my former schoolfriends at Glen Urquhart Senior Sec. School -1951 to 1955. Tom Aitchison formerly of Fort Augustus now Sheffield.
Was there someone from your village hall committee at the recent conference in Aviemore? I was there with my fundraising idea offer. Have a Mad for Bags Party in your hall, and make money towards the running costs, or your favourite charity if you prefer.
Mad for Bags is new in the Highland, offering a range of quality handbags, scarves and jewellery, all at sensible prices and available to buy and take home on the night. No item is over £30, and most are around £15 -20, jewellery mostly under £10.
A typical Mad for Bags party, which attracts approx 40 people from your community, could make between £150 and £200 on the night. It is simple, I bring a wide range of stock, from Fairtrade items made in Nepal, to silk and beaded and leather bags, silk scarves and pashminas. You run a raffle to which I always contribute three items, you provide teas or a glass of wine with a cover charge, and at the end of the night we should have raised a good sum.
Mad for Bags is new, fun, reasonably priced and different. It catches the imagination and rpovides an easy fundraiser for you.
I look forward to hearing from you to book a party soon,
Hello there, My daughter and I arrived in Drumnadrochit on friday 17th August for the Runrig concert and on the friday night attended the Ceilidh at Glenurquhart public hall, this was my daughter Bridget's first visit to scotland and also her first time at a Scottish Ceilidh so she was a bit apprehensive at first and wondered what she had let herself in for, but as it turned out she had nothing to worry about and enjoyed the evening so much she is now seeking Scottish dancing lessons in our home town of Oldham, Lancs. We both enjoyed the Band that were playing which was "Meantime" they were excellent and although I myself only managed two dances, I thoroughly enjoyed watching everyone else having a great time. We met some really nice people and the sandwiches were a plus. It was in all, a great evening and when we first arrived were warmly welcomed by the lovely lady on the door.
Thanking everyone, Best wishes, Kate.

We had a stonking Ceilidh at the Hall on 9 February, and Jennie and her team were fantastic, and really welcoming. The band we had were super as well, and a brilliant time was had by all of our party. Thanks to all at the hall...
