Welcome...

...to our new website!  Here you can find out all about Glenurquhart Farm near Cromarty on the fertile and very beautiful Black Isle, just north of Inverness.

Please click on the tabs on the left to learn about how we farm, our livestock and how to purchase our delicious, fresh, local produce.

Glenurquhart Farm is a medium sized, mixed farm run by the Aird family.  The farm is run on an environmentally sensitive basis and we grow our farm-assured livestock and crops with only minimal use of chemicals, artificial fertilisers and no GM feeds.

The animals are extensively reared using traditional breeds of cows and sheep such as Aberdeen Angus and Hereford cows plus North County Cheviot and Hebridean sheep. We are members of the Rural Stewardship Scheme which means we have such things as beetle banks, species rich grass, wetlands and open grazed grassland for birds, which we manage in such a way as encourage wildlife on our farm.

Black Isle Turkeys run by Angela Smith, has been running from the farm for a couple of years now and we have now introduced bronze birds to complete the old fashioned free range type we have which are reared on our own and locally produced feed killed and game hung on farm to produce the flavour of birds we used to have.

We have also decided as a result of customer pressure to go into free range chickens which will be available in the summer of 2009.

We are members of the Highlands and Islands Local Food Network.
