Glasdrumman Notes we 18th October 2015

The victorious senior team visited the school on Monday afternoon and presented 6 new smart touch footballs to the children for their upcoming school football season. Congratulations to senior team goal keeper Sean Cunningham and fiancée Tracy who recently announced their engagement. The u-11s secured their first home win of the season with a great team performance against an unbeaten Annaclone side on Sunday morning. Training continues tonight (Wednesday) from 6pm - 7pm. The next fixture is the last home tie of the campaign against Rostrevor.  Players to be at the Quarter Road pitch at 10.20am.
Youth club was a great success on Friday night with the kids from the first group making "spider catchers" which were very popular. They then watched a puppet show. The evening was topped off by a visit from the junior scor competitors who entertained the kids with their amazing performances.
This week the kids from the older group have their youth club session from 7pm until 8.30pm. The girls will have a relaxing "pamper night" while the boys will have a "FIFA 16" tournament.
Our Senior team completed this year's league and championship season unbeaten after the final league victory on Sunday afternoon away to Aughlisnafin with a the final score Aughlisnafin 1.06  Glasdrumman 3.09. Whether this a County record of some sort I'll leave to the statisticians to find out. It's certainly a first for us and it's down to the hard work, determination, commitment and leadership  shown both on and off the field of play that has helped us achieve this. We now need to keep it going as our first journey into the Ulster CHampionship begins on Sunday 1st November in Pairc Esler against Antrim champions Michael Davitt's. Good luck to all and let's see all the colour and hear all the noise from Glasdrumman fill the park on that day . Glasdromain Abu
Scór na nOg  started in earnest of Saturday in the AOH hall in Glasdrumman with plenty of local talent from Upper and Lower Mourne competing. Glasdrumman were taking part in two categories on Saturday and two more on Sunday in Clonduff.  Niamh McDowell won through to the South Down Final on November 8th in St.Mark's Warrenpoint in solo singing against some very talented performers from  An Riocht Ballymartin Clonduff ,Glenn and Mayobridge. Our Instrumentalists Peter Doran, Cara Sloan and Niamh will be taking part in next Sunday's qualifier in Mayobridge  where they will be joined by our Ballad group of Aoife and Tara Grant, Clodagh Morgan, Niamh McDowell and Ciara Rooney  and Ciara will also be taking part in the recitation competition for us.
We are indebted once again to the AOH for the use of the hall and their hospitality. Thanks to everyone who came out to support the young people in both venues this weekend . We look forward  to seeing you all in  Mayobridge next Sunday. Scór practice this Friday in the Clubrooms 7.00 p.m
