Glasdrumman Notes we 04th October 2015

Congratulations to our own Senior Quad on lifting  the Division 3 League winners trophy on Saturday at St Mary's Park Quarter Road. The squad are now focused on the junior final next Sunday and preparations are going well.
Congratulations also  to our two neighbouring clubs Ballymartin and Longstone.  Ballymartin on winning the Divsion 2 trophy . We wish them well in Division 1 next season. Congratulations from everyone in the club to Longstone senior camogs on reaching the Ulster final following their magnificent win over Kill Shamrocks from Cavan. We wish them good luck  in the final on Sunday 18th October in the Moy.
On Friday night we had the first youth club session of the new season when we celebrated "All things Glasdrumman" in honour of our senior team reaching the Junior Championship Final.  We were lucky enough to have a visit from senior team captain Art McCartan, influential forward Connaíre Harrison and senior team manager Emmett Devlin. Despite a hectic training schedule they spent time chatting to the kids and even joined in the activities. It was a real treat for the kids and one they enjoyed immensely. Thank you to Art, Connaire and Emmett for taking the time with the kids, it meant a lot to them!
This week the older group of youth club kids (P5 and up) will be going to Kilkeel Swimming Pool. This trip is for registered youth club kids. (Please note that unfortunately we are unable to take any more kids in this group). The bus will leave from the clubrooms at 6.30.  This is always an enjoyable trip and an fun way to start youth club season for the 2nd group.
On Sunday the U-11s played Tullylish at home in what was a brilliant encounter.  It was score for score right up until the last few minutes when Tullylish just edged ahead and ended up winning the game by 2 points.  Well done boys and girls it was a great game of football and a thoroughly enjoyable one for the many spectators. It was good to see the younger players stepping up and earning their place on the team giving Paul and Johnny something to think about in their team selection. Training continues tonight (Wednesday) at the Quarter Road Pitch from 6pm - 7pm.  Sundays game away to Bosco has been changed to the earlier time of 10am to give supporters time to get back to Newry to support the senior team.  Travel arrangements will be given at training.
This Sunday we are hosting an "After Match Dinner With The Players" upstairs in Quinns bar, Newcastle on Sunday at 7pm.  Tickets are available from any committee member before Wednesday night.
