Glasdrumman Notes we 2nd August 2015

Sunday 2nd August 2015 saw the return of our Annual Glasdrumman U10 tournament and what a day of Gaelic football it turned out to be. The weather forecast for the event was not very promising so right up until that morning it was doubtful as to whether or not the tournament would be played. Fortunately for us, Mother Nature was on our side as the rain kept its distance allowing the 9 juvenile teams to give their supporters a fantastic show of talent and skill.  Teams from Drumgath, Kilcoo, Bryansford A and B, Attical, Longstone, Glenn, Annaclone and the home team played some hard fought games throughout the day for the Cup, Shield and Plate awards. After the group stages and semi final games, it emerged that Bryansford B played Drumgath for the Plate, Attical and Glasdrumman for the Shield and Kilcoo against Bryansford A for the Cup. After 3 exciting finals, Bryansford A won the cup, Bryansford B, the Plate and Attical the Shield. To sum the day up, chairman Gary McGreevy thanked the teams, mentors, supporters, referees, Thompson Conservation Solutions ,club members and everyone involved on the day for their support and help to make it yet another successful and enjoyable tournament for Glasdrumman GAC.

There is no U-12 game this week.  Training continues of Wednesday at the Quarter Road Pitch from 6pm until 7.30pm. The U-6, U-8 and U-10 training is tonight (Wednesday) at the Quarter Road Pitch from 6pm - 7pm.

After a few shock results and a couple of draws  at the weekend there are now only 10 people left in Last Man Standing. As all the Division 1 teams are in the Senior championship this weekend and all the Division 2 teams are in the Intermediate championship Last Man Standing will continue as normal this week. As the St John's versus Atticall game is on Thursday night anyone picking either of these teams will need to have their entries in on Wednesday. All other entries must be in as normal on Thursday. All fixtures and all the teams chosen by the 10 people since the competition started can be viewed on the Last Man Standing tab on the club website. To access the club website type Glasdrumman GAC Website into Google and follow the link.

Glasdrumman seniors came out the winners after a hard fought game with Ardglass. Glasdrumman 3.14 Ardglass 2.09. Good luck to the management team and squad as they prepare for their championship game against Dundrum at home on Sunday 8th August at 2pm.
